About Align CFO

Align CFO was founded in 2025 by Anna Jungclaus. In serving the nonprofit community for 20 years, I realized that there is an impactful set of skills that CFO’s can offer to many small to medium organizations, on a limited basis throughout the year. Depending on where a client is in their growth trajectory, this model can be efficient and beneficial.

The three core pillars of Align CFO’s financial philosophy are:

  1. CFO as the guiding partner with executive teams
Many nonprofit and for profit organizations have a need for high-level CFO expertise. The impact of this work dovetails into strategy and  bridges the work of a controller or finance manager into forward thinking action-provoking concepts. Such work includes assessment of key performance indicators that have already been set, use of dashboards for board members, senior staff, and junior staff- and general conversations around efficiencies for the fiscal and program tasks-aligning with mission and vision.
  2. CFO as the internal strategist working with other executive team members and their boards
Strategy work continues from the work of a CFO outlined above- into mapping and creating metrics within software systems, assessing strategic planning and strategy refresh. We can evaluate current dashboards and board packets, create board trainings,  and educate internal staff on best practice concepts for finance and program teams. Outlining the strategy and vision of the organization is so necessary when all are on the same path to success of mission.
  3. CFO as an internal efficiency expert
This CFO work primarily focuses on the internal teams and assuring that monthly financial statements are communicating the proper fiscal information, internal controls are operational, efficiencies in process and software are incorporated, and that the audit report and other filings will be in order for a successful year. There should be no year-end surprises!
